SUMMARY:Minnesota in May BBQ Event OPEN TO PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Faribault has been given the opportunity to host Minnesota in May\, a state championship BBQ competition. This competition will be operated by the Minnesota BBQ Society and will be sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society\; they also provide the judges and will run the competition.\n\nMinnesota in May will be held Friday & Saturday\, May 20\, 21 at the Rice County Fairgrounds. The event will be open to the public and the following events will be held in addition to the competition:\n\n	\n		Kid's BBQ Contest Friday\, May 20 at 4pm! Sign up your child to try their hand at BBQ and showcase their talent! Limit 20. Please pre-register.\n	\n		Iron Chef Contest with Local celebs who will compete in our local version of the Iron Chef!\n	\n		Beer Garden and Food Vendors Available\n	\n		Live Entertainment including Killer Hayseeds Friday night at 7pm ($5 cover) & Jivin' Ivan and the Kings of Swing on Saturday from Noon-4pm.\n	\n		Talk with BBQ competitors\n	\n		Vendors will be selling are and other products Friday 5pm to 9pm and Saturday 11-5.\n\nSpectators can walk throughout the grounds\, and can stop to speak with BBQ teams about the equipment and process they use to cook award winning BBQ. Half of the proceeds generated by this competition will benefit the MN BBQ Society\, and the other half will be donated to the local organization IRIS (Infants Remembered in Silence).\n\nThis event will bring teams and visitors from the 5 state area.
