DESCRIPTION:The Rice County Historical Society and the Cannon River Civil War Round Table present the first of many events recognizing the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War Saturday\, April 9\, 2011 at the Guild House of the Episcopal Cathedral of Our Merciful Savior from 1 to 4pm.\n\nJan Stevens\, dressed in authentically constructed period clothing from the Civil War era will welcome you to the many sounds and sights of the Civil War. Listen to Civil War era music while viewing a vast array of genuine Civil War artifacts including the Rice County Civil War battle flag\, slave bills\, Lincoln memorabilia\, soldier?s equipment\, weapons\, ordinance\, buttons\, buckles\, bonds\, and currency. Chuck Larsen of Morristown will reenact the part of a Civil War recruiting officer.\n\nBooks about the Civil War will be available for purchase including the recently published book The 1st MN   Second to None written by Richard G. Krom\, the Great Grandson of a young soldier from Morristown\, Edward H. Bassett.\n\nEnjoy homemade pie and coffee in the new north entry of the Cathedral\, Guild House at 101 NW 6th Street in Faribault MN. The Event will begin at 1:00pm and is free and open to the public\, although donations to the Historical Society are appreciated and tax deductible. Please contact the Rice County Historical Society at (507) 332-2121 with any questions.
