SUMMARY:Regional Issues Meeting with MN Chamber
DESCRIPTION:Chamber Business Advocates a committee of the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce isHosting Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Regional Meeting As Minnesota emerges from one of the deepest recessions since the Great Depression\, the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce continues to ensure that every business in Minnesota has the opportunity to grow and succeed. When the Legislature convenes on February 4\, you can be certain that we will be a constant presence reminding our state's policy makers of the key issues that impact Minnesota's private sector job providers. A projected $1.2 billion shortfall\, combined with the gubernatorial and House elections this fall\, will make our job even more challenging. The MN Chamber will be prepared to represent business interests on more than 50 key business issues\, and members have established 5 priorities for the 2010 Legislative Session. Members drive this business agenda. Participate in a regional meeting to provide your input on these issues and others! State Budget and Spending Reform: Hold the line on general-fund tax increases and advocate spending reforms focusing on greater public sector productivity\, reducing overhead costs and changing the budget process Environmental Permitting: Streamline\, add certainty and reduce the cost of the environmental review and permitting process. Alternative Teacher Licensure: Provide alternative opportunities for college graduates and experienced professionals to gain teacher accreditation. Repeal the Nuclear Ban: Eliminate the gag rule that prevents regulators from discussing the expansion of nuclear energy in Minnesota. Health Care Reform: The Chamber will continue to support implementation of the 2008 state health care reforms in an effort to increase quality and control costs. We will also monitor the potential impact of federal health care reform.
