About Us

River Bend Nature Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a rich history dating back to 1978. Our mission is to help people discover, enjoy, understand, and preserve the incredible natural world that surrounds us.

Explore 743 acres of woodlands, prairies, and wetlands including the Straight River. Over ten miles of trails are open to the public year round for walking, running, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing. On-site and off-site nature education and outdoor recreation programs and events are available for families and people of all ages. School programs, day camps, and weekend and evening programs are available.

Visit the interpretive center to learn more about the natural and cultural history of the area or to rent outdoor recreation equipment. Hours are Monday - Friday 10 AM - 4:00 PM, 1st & 3rd Saturday 10 AM - 4 PM.
