Our tour this summer will be hosted at the Estrem Farm west of Northfield. We will be providing an opportunity for six selected agribusiness firms to display and demonstrate various applications of technology that are currently in use in today’s farming. These applications of technology focus on conserving fuel, chemicals, seed, and labor.
Those firms are:
SEMA Equipment, Northfield, MN; demonstrating Auto Steer with a tractor.
Isaacson Implement, Nerstrand, MN; demonstrating Auto Steer with a tractor and two row precision planter.
Central Vallery Coop, Northfield, MN; demonstrating an air flow spreader with a variable rate fertilizer spreader and corresponding rate mapping.
Nerstrand Agri-Center, Nerstrand, MN; demonstrating a field sprayer with auto steer and mapping coverage.
Minnesota Ag Group, Northfield, MN; possibly demonstrating a combine or planter with yield monitor and auto row shutoff.
Precision Planting, Sommers Brothers, Faribault, MN; demonstrating their precision planter application.
We anticipate that each vendor will spend 10 minutes explaining the technology/equipment and the remaining 10 minutes with an actual demonstration that could involve hands on use with the participants or demonstration of the equipment. The presentations will go on simultaneously and each group would repeat three times during the hour. We could anticipate that we could have nine total presentations with each firm over a three hour period.
The Estrems Farms will also provide a presentation focused primarily to a non-farm population explaining their use of technology and how it is conserving resources on their farming operation.
