PRESENTED BY:
Jivin’ Ivan Whillock is Faribault’s Renaissance man. Although well-established as an internationally-known woodcarver, he began his career as a musician playing in dance bands in the Rochester area. His band, "The Blue Notes," played live television in LaCrosse and Rochester, and on a live radio show out of Rochester. The ensemble specializes in music from the American songbook prior to the 1950s. The rest of the band features some of southern Minnesota’s finest musicians, Music Hall of Famer, Dr. Mike Hildebrandt, lead instrumentalist, and local theatre personality Dallas Musselmann is lead vocalist. The rhythm section consists of a college-trained upright bassist and a drummer, who after giving up a career traveling the country as a rock drummer, has become one of the area’s finest jazz drummers. Now in its sixth year as a band, the ensemble has honed its skills to be a true quality act. This Parks and Recreation Department event is sponsored by The Signature Bar and Grill and Quality Appliance.
