Gao Hong, an esteemed pipa virtuoso from China, embraced music from a young age, mastering the ancient instrument under Lin Shicheng's guidance. Her exceptional skill and dedication led her to prominence in the male-dominated realm of Chinese instrumental music. Relocating to the US in 1994, she captivated global audiences with her innovative blend of traditional Chinese melodies and diverse musical genres. A prolific composer, she crafts evocative pieces bridging cultural divides. Gao Hong's legacy extends beyond performances, as she shares her expertise at Carleton College and the MacPhail Center for Music, inspiring new generations and enriching appreciation for Chinese musical heritage. Gao will be joined by Flamenco guitarist Ignacio Lusardi Monteverde, with whom she recorded an album in the legendary Abbey Road Studio last year.
